American Dream, African Reality

I am an African born entrepreneur. In 1999, I founded a technology company in the US. The company grew and turned into one of those "American Dream" stories. Wanting to replicate my success in Africa, I opened a subsidiary in my native land. My American Dream soon turned into an African nightmare.

In January 2004, I traveled to visit my African subsidiary to relsove a dispute with a large client that was not paying its bills. Almost two years later, I am still there, experiencing first hand the reality of African entrepreneurship

This is my story...

  1. Hello,

I just discovered your blog, and I spent some time reading some of your posts.

Being a young African and IT enthusiast, I find it very enlightening to read your experiences. And although most of them are sad, and tend to give a much more negative image of Africa, I can't thank you enough for sharing them with us; your example of courage and outstanding ethical values is very likely strengthening for some of us who aspire to follow that path too.

    Bravo!!
